Kidney cancer is a type of cancer that develops as a result of uncontrolled growth of cells in the kidney tissue. It often does not cause symptoms in the early stages and may be detected incidentally during imaging studies performed for other reasons. Smoking, obesity, and certain genetic factors may increase the risk of developing kidney cancer.
